👉 The European Commission’s Blueprint for a European Degree
The European Commission announced a blueprint aiming for the creation of a European degree. The blueprint offers students increased mobility and the opportunity to earn a universally recognized diploma, facilitating access to learning across the EU for future-proof skills. For higher education institutions, it streamlines the process for joint degree programs. By doing so, the Commission hopes to equip graduates with the needed skills to master the green and digital transitions. This development raises questions about the implications for EdTech companies, potentially presenting new opportunities to cater to a more integrated European educational landscape.
Previously, we reported on the AI Act that was concluded after a marathon 36-hour negotiation in December. The number of measures the Act brought in include regulatory sandboxes to test AI innovation in Europe. Last month, the AI Act got adopted with overwhelming support at the European Parliament. This landmark legislation aims to safeguard both European innovation and human rights. Notably, the Act prohibits specific AI applications and imposes rigorous regulations on high-risk AI systems in sectors including education and work. The approval of the AI Act by the European Parliament represents a significant milestone in AI regulation. We are eager to observe its practical implementation in the coming future.
🧑🏫 MemoryLab, ETS Global and the University of Groningen receive EU grant
Dutch EdTech member MemoryLab, together with ETS Global, and the University of Groningen, has secured a Valorisation grant from the SNN (Northern Netherlands Alliance) to spearhead the development of a digital platform aimed at personalized, adaptive, and inclusive knowledge assessment and learning. This collaborative effort seeks to create, validate, and showcase a learning system tailored to the needs of neurodivergent and low-performing learners, who often encounter barriers in traditional educational settings. MemoryLab will leverage its expertise in adaptive assessment and learning technology to lead this transformative project.
