đDutch EdTech Blog Launchđ
Future-Proof Education
Weâre thrilled to announce the launch of the Dutch EdTech Blog! đ
In our very first article, we tackle a pressing question: How do we future-proof education in a world where many of the jobs that will exist in ten years from now havenât even been invented yet? We spoke with three visionary EdTech founders â RenĂ© Janssen (Lepaya), Danielle Petit (FutureMindZ), and AndrĂ© Haardt (Squla & Chapter) â to explore the skills of tomorrow, the gaps in todayâs systems, and how technology can bridge them.
đ Insights from the OECDâs âTrends Shaping Education 2025â and the Future of Education and Skills 2030 project reinforce that students need adaptability, empathy, and agency to thrive. On the other hand, European Digital Education Hub highlights that there's a widening gap between what learners need and what schools provide.
đĄ From 21st-century skills like problem-solving and creativity to the critical need for personalised and flexible learning pathways, one thing is clear: we canât wait for traditional systems to catch up. The responsibility and the opportunity lie with all of us to act.
đ Keep an eye out on your inbox for the Blog!
Stay tuned â weâll continue to explore innovations, challenges, and bold ideas shaping Dutch EdTech.

đ AI 2027 Report
The AI 2027 report predicts a fast-moving future where Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) could arrive by 2027, with superintelligence following close behind in 2028. The report outlines two potential paths: a âraceâ scenario where actors push ahead for competitive advantage (potentially risking safety), and a âslowdownâ scenario where global cooperation prioritises safety and alignment before pushing forward. For EdTech companies and especially startups and scale-ups, this acceleration reshapes everything: who teaches, how we learn, what skills matter, and how content is created. Access to compute, model control, and alignment frameworks will be crucial in a landscape where the innovation cycle may outpace human adaptability. Trust, explainability, and ethical deployment will become defining features. Now is the time for EdTech leaders to engage in governance, anticipate disruption, and help ensure AI serves all learners, not just a few early adopters. For more details, read the article here.
đ AI Will Empower Human Potential
Reid Hoffman shared his perspective on AI in a recent article by The Generalist, arguing that AI will enhance human capabilities rather than replace them. The concept of Superagency was introduced, in which AI empowers individuals and small teams with capabilities that were once limited to large organisations. AI becomes a thought partner, which enhances creativity and decision-making. In addition, Hoffman warns about the real risk: being left behind by rapid AI evolution. Furthermore, Hoffman emphasises the need to develop ethical frameworks alongside technological progress. This new era promises to amplify mental labour, similar to what machines once did for physical work, hence dubbed the âCognitive Industrial Revolutionâ. Listen here.
đ EdTech at the Centre of Europe: The EEAâs Strategy
The European EdTech Alliance (EEA) released a comprehensive report on the state of the EdTech startup landscape across Europe. The âEuropean EdTech Startup Innovation Ecosystemâ report (April 2025) highlights the growing importance of EdTech, with over 7,800 companies employing 400,000 people and serving more than 93 million students. Despite its rapid expansion, the sector faces structural challenges such as short financial runways, long sales cycles, and limited cross-border growth. The report also points to critical gender disparities in funding and leadership, with only 11% founded and led by women. The EEA makes a compelling case for strategic action to unlock EdTechâs full potential, with detailed recommendations on governance, funding, infrastructure, and collaboration. As Europe moves to strengthen its digital sovereignty and innovation capacity, this report serves as an essential read for anyone invested in the future of educational technology.

âš Evidence-Informed Evaluation of Edtech: A New Chapter for Innovation
At Dutch EdTech, we believe in building bridges between innovation and impact. Thatâs why weâre diving deeper into the Evidence-Informed Evaluation of Edtech framework, presented by Npuls.
đ This framework aims to foster a culture of evidence-informed decision-making, supporting EdTech companies and institutions in making smarter choices about what works. It targets the strength of evidence to our confidence in a toolâs effectiveness and embeds a cycle of continuous improvement.
The balance between structure and creativity is crucial. As highlighted in this piece by Brighteye Venturesâ"Why NPS Isnât Enough"âevidence-based decision-making can be a huge asset for EdTech companies. But itâs essential that frameworks like this one are carefully curated to support growth, not slow it down.
đŹ In the coming weeks, weâll be speaking with Npuls to explore some important questions.
