Keeping up with the latest in education & learning technology
👉 Dutch government cuts subsidies for education & science
The Dutch government is cutting 342 million euros in subsidies for education and science. These cuts will impact several areas, such as reduced support for primary school gym classes, gifted children, and students not attending school. The government also scrapped salary increases for teachers meant to offset inflation. Additionally, funding for regional vocational education initiatives and "study advance funds" for universities will be cut down. With restrictions on English-language courses and growing frustration among universities, we are curious to observe the implications particularly for the edtech landscape.
👉 New EmpowerED report & recommendations for education innovation in Europe
The European EdTech Alliance (EEA) has released a new report under the EmpowerED project, highlighting key barriers to digital innovation in Europe's education sectors. The report advocates for standardised definitions of terms and the creation of aligned European frameworks to address fragmentation in the Edtech sector. Additionally, it calls for funding initiatives to improve access to reliable and comparable market data, helping to strengthen the overall Edtech ecosystem in Europe.
