👉 Open AI has launched a guide for teaching with AI, including prompts for educators
Recently, OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, unveiled its ‘Teaching with AI’ guide, designed to provide valuable support to educators in harnessing the potential of ChatGPT for educational purposes. ChatGPT's versatility shines through as it takes on various roles in education, from being a debate partner to assisting in quiz and exam creation, lesson planning, and translation tasks.
This development raises intriguing questions with regards to concerns about education in the era of AI.
👉 UNESCO has issued "‘urgent call’ for appropriate use of technology in education
In a new global report on technology in education, UNESCO highlighted the lack of appropriate government regulation in digitalization. UNESCO Director-General stated “Online connections are no substitute for human interaction” as UNESCO urges countries to set regulations to ensure that technology never replaces in-person, teacher-led education.
The report also highlights the bitter divisions in the role of technology in education, explores the debates, and examines challenges such as access, equity and inclusion, and quality that can be tackled through appropriate use of technology.
👉 European EdTech Alliance (EEA) Policy and Startup Taskforces come back: Sweden goes back to paper
The EEA Policy and Startup Taskforces came together again this month to discuss developments in the EdTech sector in Europe, share experiences, and propose actions for policy.
The Policy Taskforce discussed Sweden’s decision to go back to teaching with books and handwriting, with a deliberate move away from digital tools. The Ministry aims to completely end digital learning for students under the age of 6. This may impact the digital proficiency of students on the longer term.
