Once a niche sector with an ambitious vision to transform the way the world learns, EdTech Venture investment is now 40x larger than it was a little over a decade ago in 2010, nearly 5x the previous investment peak in 2015.
China's EdTech investment collapse was offset with an incredible surge in investment in the US and across Europe. India is now Asia's investment leader in education, surpassing Europe as a whole, yet less diversified.
"Picoo is a portable and screenless console optimized for outdoor play. A fascinating link between technology and classic outdoor activities, it includes a range of classic games like Whack-a-Mole and Hide-and-Seek.
Based on how well a child performs in a specific game, Picoo will optimize the challenge and automatically balance gameplay."
University campuses, silent and deserted during the peak of Covid-19, are now being restored to life. But nobody expected a reversion to the “old normal” — nor should we wish for it.
This week Dutch Edtech was featured in this news article around the celebration of the massive funding round Dutch Edtech member GoStudent has embarked on.
Ellen Petit, Country Manager NL & BE, tells us: “It is fantastic to help Dutch and Belgian students and their parents to get the best out of themselves with our team. We see that the personal attention that our GoStudent tutors can give, ensures that students absorb the material faster. This already results in better figures in a short period of time. But not only that! We have been travelling in the Netherlands for about 8 months now and we see and hear more and more often that the self-confidence of the students, thanks to this personal attention and explanation, also gets better. Just as important in our view. We look forward to supporting even more Dutch and Belgian students and parents in the way that works best for them.”

And another Dutch Edtech member going for a big funding round! Winc Academy announced a $3 million funding round to increase the steep growth of its education platform.
Joran van Aart, CEO at Winc Academy, tells us: “Our online education platform has proven to be a success formula: our number of active students has grown 8x in the past year. With this funding, we will train and retrain 20,000 people in tech in the coming years. We are committed to new training courses, growth of the platform, internationalization and expansion of the team. So we are currently recruiting a lot, and are looking for a COO and senior leadership in education, marketing, finance, and tech, among other things.”
"The ecosystem of how you serve the deskless worker is changing,” said Jacob Waern, CEO and founder of EduMe, in an interview. “They don’t want to have 10 apps, and so we are looking to integrate with CRM platforms and others to deliver connected content to workforces."
Dealroom is a trusted Dutch Edtech partner and together with them we have created the first report on the Dutch Edtech ecosystem. We are looking forward to keep providing the ecosystem with vital information in 2022.
Education is not the easiest field to start a revolution. Where the future of our precious children is at stake, changes are made with the utmost caution. But tomorrow’s jobs call for new skills, so innovation is a must. Besides, advances in digital technology have a lot to offer to learners, says Diane Janknegt, Founder of Wizenoze.
A global survey by HolonIQ shows that only 13% (104) of women CEOs lead the top 800 Edtech companies worldwide compared to 87% of men, despite women playing a prominent role in positions such as school teachers and principals (70% of the world's primary school teachers are women). This first cohort will be supporting the growth of the most promising female founders in Europe 🇪🇺
We are going to create even more impact, and are looking for a passionate Sales Executive who manages the sales process from contact to contract.
