We're launching Dutch Edtech 🚀
Proud to be part of the European Edtech Alliance
In order to bring the voice of education innovators to European level, European EdTech Alliance launched last Tuesday. Representing more than 1500 EdTech start-ups and companies from across Europe, European EdTech Alliance aims to work collaboratively to increase cross-border cooperation and innovation in education in Europe. The goal of an improved EdTech ecosystem is that there will be better quality, more holistic and accessible education for all.
Investment Announcements
The EdTech sector is rapidly expanding. Most of the announcements come from overseas (until now of course 😉). Let's take a look at a few:
Insights from higher education institutions
From the perspective of the institutions the following insights stood out:
There is a lack of proces. Who is the person of contact and if there is one, what are the next steps?
Scaling - After an experiment with positive results it's hard to continue. Where is the budget coming from, what are the technical requirements for hardware / software? And which stakeholders need to be involved?
Vision: besides all the practical problems the participants indicated that the lack of a clear vision is probably the cause of these problems.
Financing: this is mainly ad hoc, which makes it difficult to take a particular process into account.

About us
In Amsterdam there is already a small ecosystem of EdTech companies. After a few get-togethers just before Covid the idea of Dutch Edtech was born. Several organisations are already working together on (societal) issues and experience the benefits of these collaborations. But it's just the beginning.
Together with:
Peter van Sabben (Growth Tribe)
Ruben Nieuwenhuis (TechConnect, Techgrounds)
Safia Akkus (Community Dutch Edtech) and myself
(Roel Bellinga, (itorium, University of the Netherlands / Flanders)
we're determined to get the Dutch EdTech scene in the top 3 of Europe. Something you can help us to achieve. How?
